‘Blue Toon’ is a work that looks to the industrial north east of Scotland – more specifically around the town of Peterhead, which during the 1970s became one of the most important areas of heavy industry in the country. The main areas of focus for the project are the Stirlinghill quarries, Peterhead harbour and North Sea fishing, Peterhead Power Station, SCORE manufacturing and the St Fergus Gas Terminal.
The images look to examine the relationship between these industries and the individuals who manage and work within them. This relationship has shifted over the years, with decline and change in the industries, leaving these large sites to be worked by few people. The work also places these structures within their wider context, setting them against the landscape or unban environment that they exist within.
